Who is Jesus?
Everyone has some sort of answer to this question, however varied the response. Our ideas of Jesus may come from where we live, family tradition, the media, or culture at large. We may even have ideas that are still forming; something that remains to be explored. But how do we move from ideas to conviction and truth? How do we know who Jesus is?
As we open up the Gospel of Mark, we will walk alongside Jesus and His Disciples through each event contained in the scripture. We will see some of those closest to Him struggle with their own perceptions of who they think Jesus is, while some of the least-likely will come to believe, know Jesus, and understand what His kingdom is about. As we experience every encounter with the Son of Man, we too will struggle, believe, and know.
Mark is going to lift the curtain to show us that Jesus is often different from the stereotypes we create about Him. He is more than our personal expectations of Him, and He is greater than the misunderstandings and lies we have heard about Him. We will come to know Jesus like we have never known Him before. When we close the pages of Mark, we can personally, and with conviction, give a clear and life-giving answer to Jesus’ own question to humanity: “Who do you say I am?”
In this 13 week study from Reaching Her we will:
Walk with Jesus through His life and ministry while on earth.
See the power and authority of Jesus.
Witness the love of Jesus in His sacrifice for us.
Understand what the Kingdom of God is and is not.
Delineate the difference between religion and a relationship with God.
Evaluate ourselves to see if we have unbelief and a hard heart.
Cultivate a soft heart of faith that is alert and attune to Jesus.
Be able to answer the question of Jesus: “Who do you say I am?”.
