Jonah and God

The story of Jonah and the whale is a classic Biblical tale. But do we know more than the fact that this man spent a few nights in the belly of a big fish?

Jonah is a prophet. A man who represents God and speaks God’s Truth into the lives of people around him. But Jonah has issues. When God gives Jonah the task of taking His Truth to the people of Nineveh, he balks, runs, and embarks on a life of struggle that doesn’t cease even when he makes the choice to obey.

What happens when life takes us where we don’t want to be? How do we respond to things happening that we don’t want to experience?

The God of Compassion pursues us in these situations. He steps into our lives and equips us to stand strong. Along with Jonah, we will learn what it means to walk with God somewhere you don’t want to go.

Join us in this six week study of the book of Jonah and we will learn:

  • How to walk with God somewhere you don’t want to go.

  • Who God is and how He will pursue a relationship with us.

  • The miraculous power of prayer.

  • How to handle struggle in our relationship with God.

  • How to identify and walk through anger and depression.

  • What compassion means in God and ourselves.

  • That the struggle of life is never about us, but Who God is in the midst of it.

This book is designed to help you engage with God through His Word, as well as connect and grow with a community. Each of the six lessons comes equipped with discussion/discipleship questions for you to use personally, with a group, or with someone you are discipling.
